Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it. We keep it in plain English because a privacy policy nobody can read protects nobody.

Who we are

Stock & Fable ("we", "us", "our") is a marketing and design studio based in Cardiff, United Kingdom, working with clients across the UK. We are the data controller responsible for the personal information handled through this website. Our full postal address is available on request.

If you have any questions about this policy or about how we handle your data, email us at hello@stockandfable.co.uk.

The information we collect

We only collect what we need to answer you and to run our business properly. That falls into three groups.

  • Information you give us. When you complete a form on this site, book a call or email us, we collect the details you provide. Depending on the form, this includes your name, email address, phone number, company name and the contents of your message.
  • Information from requesting our guides. When you download one of our free guides, we collect your name, email address and company so we can send it to you and, if you have agreed, occasional related material.
  • Information collected automatically. With your consent, we use analytics to understand how the site is used. This includes technical data such as your browser and device type, approximate location based on your IP address, the pages you view and how you arrived. See our cookie policy for the detail.

How we use your information

We use your personal data to:

  • respond to your enquiry, prepare a proposal and provide our services;
  • send you a guide or resource you have asked for;
  • keep records of our conversations and agreements with you;
  • understand how our website performs so we can improve it;
  • meet our legal and accounting obligations.

Our legal basis

Under UK data protection law we must have a lawful basis for using your data. We rely on the following.

  • Legitimate interests. Responding to enquiries and running our studio, provided your interests and rights do not override ours.
  • Steps towards a contract. Where you ask us to quote for or provide services.
  • Consent. For analytics cookies and for any marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation. Where we are required to keep records, for example for tax.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data, ever. We do use a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf under contract.

  • HubSpot. Our forms and customer records run through HubSpot, which stores the details you submit and helps us manage enquiries.
  • Google Analytics. Where you have accepted analytics cookies, Google processes usage data to produce the reports we see.
  • Our hosting and infrastructure providers. Who keep this site and our systems running.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights.

International transfers

Some of our providers process data outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens, we rely on safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations, so your data receives equivalent protection.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and client data for as long as we are working together and for a reasonable period afterwards, so we can honour our obligations and answer any follow-up. Where we hold data only on the basis of your consent, we stop using it when you withdraw that consent. We review what we hold periodically and delete what we no longer need.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • ask us to delete your data;
  • restrict or object to how we use it;
  • ask us to transfer your data to another provider;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting anything we did before you withdrew it.

To exercise any of these, email hello@stockandfable.co.uk and we will respond within the timescales the law requires.

Complaints

We would always rather you came to us first so we can put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be made clear on the site.

This policy sits alongside our cookie policy, which explains the cookies and similar technologies this site uses.
